I can't even start with calling this post Day 1. I will start my dieting plans again tomorrow. hahaha
Well let's just start with why I'm writing this blog. To be honest, I was looking for a place to put my thoughts, goals and details about my journey somewhere on the internet. I was looking for a more private place to write this information, but couldn't find one. I probably didn't look hard enough. Anywho, I thought I'd blog about it. If anyone reads it, great, and if no one does, that's ok too.
Let me start with a little introduction. My name is Jane. I'm 35 years young and overweight. In May of 2009 I decided I was going to run a 5k. It took me 5 months to complete the couch to 5k program and I completed Disney's Expedition Everest Challenge. It was amazing. I was crazy slow, but I ran and walked the 5k and climbed over a wall, on a balance beam and under a cargo net. I was hooked. I knew my next goal was a half marathon.
The following year I searched for a coach to help me get to my half marathon goal. Instead I found a group. Using the Galloway program and the support from that group, I ran/walked my first half marathon in 3 months. Another one 2 months later and yet another 3 months after that. That has certainly become my distance of choice. Again, slow like a turtle wading through peanut butter, but I train for them and complete them, so that's still better than laying on the couch. And I have the shiny medals to show off too!
I haven't managed to shed any weight. I stay within a the same 15 pounds. I've tried everything, low carb, no carb, weight watchers, low fat, no fat, organic, south beach, atkins and now I'm sitting here about to begin the Mayo Clinic "diet". I'm hoping that by blogging and journalling I can break out of my 15 pound weight loss and go a little further this year. Actually a lot, but let's start with baby steps.
So happy new year to anyone who may read this today, tomorrow, 6 months or 6 years from now. Every day can be the new year if that's the choice you make. I hope if you read this you like what I have to share and can feel free to share your experiences here with me as well.
Next stop Day 1......
